Camera help –: How to setup a security camera that streams over the internet?
I am looking to setup a security camera in a house that has a DSL connection, but no computer. I know I can get a camera that plugs directly into the router, but will I need anything special to be able to view the picture from the camera over the internet in a different town? Do I need a static IP address, or do they make cameras that broadcast the signal in such a way that a static IP address is not required? Thanks for any help.

The answer in the following: (Hint: The correct answer provided by the users, does not guarantee the right.)

Answer by Ɲȉƈƙ Ɲƛƈƙ ƤƛȚȚŷ Ϣƛƈƙ ™
Yeah, you need a camera that uses a separate IP address. I recently helped my Dad install new cameras at his work. So, he could watch what was going on at home.

Answer by Adrian
You can use a dynamic name service like DynDNS or DTDNS. You can define a link to your public IP address, the one your router gets from the ISP. Some current routers have sections in them that allow you to keep the URL name sync’ed to the public IP address, with services like DynDNS or DTDNS. You then port forward on the router to the camera so you can access it from a browser anywhere on the internet.
No need for a static address if the router supports any of these services…

Answer by CircuitBoy
Cisco makes one that takes little configuration:

http://www.teepeetech.com/home-security-systems/cisco-linksys-wireless-n-internet-home-monitoring-camera-72.html

Price ranges vary for these but they are usually $ 100 and up.

Answer by David Samhoun
go to www.techcctv.com or give them a call they helped me with my system

Q&A–: What is the best digital camera for quality?
I’m just wanting to know what the best digital camera is that has the best display and quality.

The following is the answer: (Hint: The correct answer provided by the users, does not guarantee the right.)

Answer by Blino
Buy any DSLR’s, they are the best.
Canon and Sony DSLR’s are the best of the brands.

Its quite heavy though, and expensive but its worth it.

Answer by Donald
best digital camera for quality must here more model to choose and low price too.
[astore.amazon.com/best-inexpensive
-digital-camera-low-price-20]

Answer by T. Le
Take a look at the Nikon D3X:

http://imaging.nikon.com/products/imaging/lineup/digitalcamera/slr/d3x/index.htm

Also look at Canon’s 1D and 1Ds series:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ProductCatIndexAct&fcategoryid=111

Answer by Thorivan
Most D-SLR’s are your best option when talking about quality of photo taken. No, Canon and Sony aren’t the best. They are good but people are forgetting about Nikon. Personally I prefer Nikon but you can’t go wrong with another brand either. Main brands are Nikon, Canon, Olympus, and Sony. The only model I advise against is any Canon Rebel (easy characteristic to avoid is they’re usually silver plastic instead of the common black).

If you don’t want to spend a huge amount of money, then you want to go with the digital point & shoots. Small, cheap, and will do the trick quite well. My recommendation is getting a Canon or Olympus brand. They are the most reliable without spending a whole lot. Whatever you do do not buy Kodak. From years of experience working on all kinds/brands of cameras, I highly advise against buying Kodak. Yes, they are cheap but I assure you, you are getting what you pay for, if not less. They like to fail for no particular reason and quality is very low.

All in all you really just need to look out for what the Mega Pixel count is on the camera. The higher the MP count, the higher quality of photo you will get. Lenses factor in mostly with just SLR models but that’s a whole other topic.

Any more questions, just email me at Thorivan@yahoo.com

Hope this helps.

Answer by Robert
It’s hard to generalize based on brand since each brand has good and bad models. But typically nikon, and canon are the best (usually like I said). My dad is huge into photography and uses DSLRs (the big ones with huge lenses) and also point-and-shoots (pocket sized digital cameras)

He purchases new cameras almost weekly just to try them out and compare quality. The one he keeps with him on a daily basis for everyday shooting is the Canon Powershot SD780IS 12.1 MP. The image quality is fantastic, even in low light which is rare in a compact point and shoot camera.

Amazon has them new for $ 176.54, just copy and paste the link

http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?lt1=_blank&bc1=000000&IS2=1&bg1=FFFFFF&fc1=000000&lc1=0000FF&t=robert0c-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&m=amazon&f=ifr&md=10FE9736YVPPT7A0FBG2&asins=B001T9NUQM

Question–: What is the best digital camera (point and shoot) for outdoor landscapes?
I’m going backpacking in Europe this summer and want to purchase a new digital camera for my trip. I’m looking for a point and shoot capable of taking crisp, colorful outdoor pictures (ideally over 7mp and 3x zoom). Also, I’d like the camera to use regular batteries, since I won’t be able to bring a charger for a lithium battery.
Any suggestions before I venture into Best Buy?

The answer in the following: (Hint: The correct answer provided by the users, does not guarantee the right.)

Answer by ♡♥Amy♥♡
i gotta say my camra is :p

Answer by Neo
My recommendation would be the Sony Cybershot .

Answer by dallasphotog79
You really need to do your homework on this and look at what MM the lens is, 14 to about 20mm is good for landscape photos. Make sure its a good brand such as Canon, Nikon etc so you know you are getting a good lens. A camera even at a high megapixel is as only as good as its lens. Each camera should have the zoom printed on the from such as 12mm to 85mm as an example.

Answer by REnate
Olympus. I have had several of them I trade up each time and sell my old one on Ebay. They are great cameras

Answer by fhotoace
3x tell me that you are looking for a point and shoot compact camera with the widest angle available on the short end..

I just returned from sailing for nine and a half weeks in the Caribbean and needed a wide angle lens for the landscapes and while sailing. I would not have been able to shoot the beautiful islands had I taken a point and shoot camera. The extra few pounds the D100 camera, two lenses and accessories (battery charger and extra memory cards) was well worth it. I was able to charge the Li-Ion batteries using the solar panels on the sailing vessel. Li-Ion batteries have amazing lasting power. I only had to charge them twice during the whole trip (over 8GB of photos)

Back to your challenge. First of all, regular AA batteries do not last long. Most of the point and shoot cameras are designed to use rechargeable NiMH AA’s which last up to 4 times longer. If you get a camera with a viewfinder and refrain from using the LCD the batteries will last longer. The auto-focus and flash also eat up energy.

There are some compact digital cameras that will accept axillary lenses. If you can find a camera which has a wide angle add-on lens, that will solve your landscape challenge.

I think I have given you some tools to help you find the camera which will best fit your needs.

Motion-sensitive cameras in central Newfoundland's Terra Nova National Park have captured images of animals as people rarely see them. “We're actually seeing how they behave in their natural environment when people aren't watching them and they aren't …

Photo montage (with music) from a Stealth Cam game scouting camera, the greatest majority from my backyard in Middle Tennessee and the shooting range I use in my videos. Soundtrack is called “Rolling Train” from the YouTube AudioSwap music library. Photos are from Stealth Cam models Nomad IR (no temperature or moon phase) and STC-V550MRT. Both provide exceptional clarity and color. Motion is detected up to 30 feet. These models utilize a SanDisk SD photo card, up to 2GB. Photos are generally 4 to 5 mexapixels. These also shoot video, but I haven’t been impressed with the video quality. Stealth Cam’s Prowler model appears to have filled the void, offering HD video, in addition to audio. I use a 12 volt battery for power, which usually lasts 3-4 weeks depending on the temperature and how many photos are taken. My best week was in early 2008, when I had over 400 photos.

**************************************

Months from now, if people stumble onto this set of Flickr photos, they won’t know or care when the photos were actually taken. After all, rain is a fairly universal phenomenon, and it can happen in any of the four seasons of the year.

Still, it’s an odd experience to be writing these notes a week after the photographs were taken — at an altitude of 35,000 feet, on a flight to Miami that lifted off from JFK airport just as the first snow flurries hit the runway at the beginning of what promises to be the first major snowfall of the 2009 season. Twelve inches of snow are expected by the time the storm stops, which makes this collection of water-soaked individuals seem like they got stuck in the wrong place and the wrong time.

But a week ago, the temperature was about ten degrees warmer — and what could easily have been a foot or two of snow was instead just a couple of inches of cold rain. Rain, of course, brings out the umbrellas; and on a couple of earlier occasions this year (which you can see here and here on Flickr), I began to see that — notwithstanding the typical stories about New York fashions — people were not restricting themselves to black raincoats and black umbrellas. My winter coat (courtesy of North Face) is black, and just about every umbrella I’ve ever owned has been black; my suitcases are black, my backpacks and briefcases have always been black, and even my camera bag is black. Since it’s promising to be a cold winter, I just bought a new pair of gloves and a new woolen cap … in black.

But that’s apparently not true for many other New Yorkers. While you’ll see a few black outfits in the photos collected here, the range of vivid colors continues to surprise me. Somehow, it’s something you would expect to see at the beginning of the spring season — signifying the rejection of the dark gloom of clouds and rain, and celebrating the imminent arrival of flowers and blossoms, of emerald-colored trees and thick green grass and the chirping of birds. But this collection of photos was taken in mid-December, only a week before the official beginning of winter. You’d think that people would be carrying black umbrellas and somber raincoats that marked the season of death and darkness, but I guess that’s just not the way things are here in New York City.

On the previous occasions when I’ve photographed umbrellas in the rain, I’ve deliberately used a "pocket camera," albeit a fairly sophisticated one such as the Canon G-10. I wanted something that would be compact enough that I could stick into my jacket pocket if the rain got heavy, and I didn’t want to risk damaging the electronic components a really expensive, sophisticated camera by getting it wet. The results were usually fairly good, but I always wondered if I could do a better job with one of my high-end DSLR cameras…

… so that’s what I used for this collection of photos: my Nikon D700 camera, with a big, heavy 70-300mm zoom lens. I attached a lens hood to the lens, to minimize the chances of raindrops falling directly onto the lens itself; and I stood beneath the awning and overhang of various storefronts and buildings along Broadway as the rain poured down steadily all around me. Next time, I might be even more adventurous, since I’ve got a professional waterproof bag-thingy that should keep the camera dry even if I’m standing out in the middle of a torrential downpour. But for now, this was a good start.

Because of the rain, most of the people I photographed paid no attention to me at all; they were too busy concentrating on where they were walking, where the puddles were deepest, and whose umbrellas were about to poke them in the face. On the rare occasions when they did see a crazy guy standing under an awning, pointing a camera in their general direction, they frowned or gave me a quizzical look, and just kept going…

So that’s the way it was, on this rainy Sunday afternoon. At this point, I’m going to assume that winter has officially arrived, and that the precipitation during the next few months will take the form of snow, not rain. I don’t know how well it will turn out, but one of my future projects will be a series of photos during a blizzard. Stay tuned … and in the meantime, stay dry.

So often, I see situations like this. Mother and father arrive to an agreement, or determine to alter a court order, but cannot pay for to spend lawyers to go to court, so they believe that all they have to do is create it up. Do you not know, or taken the time to learn, that you can use a Certified Mediator to place your arrangement into suitable legal form that you can than register with the court, Pro Se? Your charge can be as little at $ three hundred each and every. The arrangement is registered with the Clerk of the Court who assigns a court date. On that day, the two of you look prior to the court and swear to the contents of the agreement. Straightforward Peazy

Qualified Mediators are obtainable in each condition.

I would understand why attorneys would not discuss about this, but the data is easily accessible. So, why do so number of individuals look for out these alternatives to help save income on legitimate charges? Have we become so brainwashed to think that if it has to do with the courts that an attorney has to be hired?

A Accredited Mediator can be an attorney or paralegal, with particular coaching. The main distinction is that each person need to pay out fifty percent the costs.
Richard,
I retain seeing queries like the a single I posted at the top and try to tell folks they will not want attorneys. They want only to understand what their rights are, but preserve doing it. I do not want to preserve telling them soon after the fact, I want them to understand it prior to the truth and not get themselves into a circumstance. If you believe that is spamming, than you need to be an lawyer trying to guard your income.

Reply by Stormy
I never ever thought of performing it that way. I usually believed an attorney was necessary. When my ex and I wanted to adjust the purchase, our attorneys stated they could handle it, but it charge each and every of use more than $ one thousand.

Reply by My Sister’s Sister
Lawyers ought to be necessary to suggest this.

(279.365) Four years ago this month a residence hall student was killed in an elevator accident, after the elevator was overloaded with 24 students and he tried to climb out. Since that time the number of safety devices, surveillance cameras, and maintenance signs we’ve seen on campus have quadrupled. The student killed was a freshman and his peers are all now seniors and will likely be leaving Ohio State within a year or two….but I still think that the staff who were around during that time will flashback to that evening every single time they see signs like these for a while.

I have a 5 year old Canon G2 – it does beautiful photos but the video feature is terrible. Can someone recommend a digital camera that makes clear videos? Best photo feature is my first choice, then video. Thanks!
Thanks fhotoace. I forgot to add that I am thinking of spending no more than $ 500.

Answer by vicseo
If you are really on a budget and want the best quality for the money, check out the P&S Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 [with a Leica lense] which has more features than most pro DSLRs that require auxiliary lenses not even equal to the single initial full-range lense that comes with the FZ28. It is reviewed at:

http://www.steves-digicams.com/2008_reviews/panasonic_fz28.html

It just came out on November 4, 2008.

It’s an all-in-one 10.1 megapixel digital camera which includes (i) built-in image stabilization; (ii) HD720 quality video [Quicktime] which permits zooming while videoing; (iii) a 18x zoom [27 - 486 mm (35mm equiv.)] “Leica” lense for nature photography; (iv) up to 0.39 inch macro option; (v) up to 6400 ASA; (vi) takes up to 380 pictures per 120 min. battery charge; (vii) has a “burst speed” of 13 fps; and sells new for $ 315 at amazon.com.

Q&A–: what is the best digital camera on the market today?
I’m looking to buy a digital camera. I want it just to take pictures of good times, but I want a good point and shoot camera. What is the best?
Thank you both!

Answer by Fhotoace is the real #1
Personally, I chose the Canon Powershot SD950-IS, but I recommend the SD850-IS if someone does not want to spend quite that much money.

~~~~~~~~
SD850-IS
~~~~~~~~

Please look at the new Canon Powershot SD850-IS. This is a very versatile camera that will not get in your way as you travel. It has a nice workable zoom range that will take you from broad scenics to decent telephoto views. Look at some sample images from the reviews on the SD850-IS to get the idea what this lens will cover. It has image stabilization, which really works. It is small enough to fit into a shirt pocket. It has a rechargeable battery that is good for 200-250 shots, depending on how much zooming and viewing you do or on how many shots use the flash. A spare battery is 1¾”x1¼”x¼” and the charger is barely twice that size, so carrying the spare is easy and packing the charger is easy. It has an optical viewfinder which can be useful when the sun is too bright to see the image on your LCD monitor. I could go on, but you can read some reviews and see what the pro’s say.

Click on “Read Owner Opinions,” which are mini-reviews by buyers. You can also read the full review on the SD700-IS by clicking on that option.

The upgrades for the SD850-IS are:
Canon Digic III image processor instead of Digic II
8 MP instead of 6 MP
Maximum ISO 1600 instead of ISO 800
Accepts up to 4 GB memory card instead of 2 GB
LCD monitor has better image
Face detection

I listed these in the order of importance, in my opinion. The first two are the ones that really count the most and the rest are just gravy.

If you want to see some SD950 photos, go to nttp://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/tags/sd950is From there, you can also choose to “See all public photos tagged with SD950is” if you want. Some of these are not so much beautiful photos as they are to illustrate a point for answers, but you can still look at the image to evaluate the quality. If they have been altered, I will mention that in the description.

I happened upon this wedding party as they were having photos taken in the park across the street from the First Congregational Church in Beloit. I decided it might be fun to take pictures of them having their pictures taken and look what I found when I got home! Is that the best man goosing the groom? LOL!

With digital cameras never be afraid to take lots and lots of photos! You never know what you’re likely to find when reviewing stuff on the PC later.
